For Blog Post #39 I will be taking 2 or 3 of the questions I came up with in Blog Post #38 and give short but detailed explanations as to why I feel these are the most interesting and/or important ones that need to be answered to begin crafting my public argument.

  • What the current regulations (multiple state used ones) and how do they define excessive whipping?
    • Currently in the U.S., each state that allows horse racing has its own racing commission that determines the regulations for the sport in that state. Know if there is any consensus between them may point to the possibility of a future unanimous regulation.
  • What solutions are all ready be brokered and their time frame for initialization?
    • Knowing what is currently being worked on would greatly assist with providing the right details to the audience. If there are currently resolutions in the process, lobbying for their installation is pointless.
  • What are the differences between how the U.S. deals with this issue and how other countries deal with it?
    • How have others countries with horse racing dealt with this issue? I know that the Scandinavian countries have each outlawed it on a national level. Most European countries have a limit (number of times) a whip can be used. Knowing how others are dealing with the issue and how it's working for them can definitely provide insight to a solution here in the U.S.
